"Janet's presentation is one of the best I have heard on the subject of 'Intimacy with God'. The structure allows each of us to see this intimacy as a joyful, attainable reality and not just a lofty goal."

- L. Karns, Anacartes, WA.

"I want to thank you for sharing with us while you were here in St. Maarten. We were truly blessed with your ministry. This presentation was so timely for our people. It was the providence of God."

Coming to know Jesus

Janet Baylis Gassman grew up in a Christian home and at the age of 12, during a church service, she realized that her sin had put Jesus on the Cross. It broke her heart. With confession and repentance, she sought His forgiveness and received Jesus into her life. She was later baptized and surrendered herself for His service.  Her heart longed to express her love by serving Him.

Coming to know her calling

Life was not working for Janet. She experienced deep disappointment that took her through some dark times. It was during those dark days, as she worked through her own struggles Biblically, that she began to have a deep compassion for hurting women. Through God’s intervention, Janet returned to school to receive her B.A. degree from Multnomah Bible College in Portland, Oregon and then continued to receive her M.A. in counseling from Western Seminary, Seattle under the direction of Dr.Dan Allender.

Janet received several honors during her educational experience:
1997  Listed in Who’s Who In American Universities and Colleges.
1998 Honor graduate from Multnomah Bible College, receiving the Delta Epsilon Chi award from the     honor society of the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges.
2000 Honors graduate from Western Seminary Seattle.

Going to serve

Janet is a private practice counselor near Portland, Oregon. Besides her general practice she specializes in: abuse issues, boundary issues, co-dependency, depression, fear/anxiety, and anger. Janet is also adjunct faculty at Multnomah University in Portland. She has worked as a mental health therapist in the lock-down unit of Woodland Park Hospital, and also as a counselor at Shepherd’s Door, a women’s residential facility, both in Portland, Oregon.

Her clients and friends began to ask her to speak to groups and do workshops. This  opened the door to the expanded speaking ministry she is currently enjoying.

Some of her speaking topics include:

  • Moving toward Intimacy with God.
This is an amazing visual presentation pinpointing the main areas of struggle in the Christian life. The visual walks the listener through the  emotional indicators of the struggle; then defines  the struggle Biblically; followed by the choices of response to God. Each choice of response to these issues will either move us toward intimacy or away from relationship with God. This is Janet’s most requested presentation.
  • Prayer.
Open the door to the discovery of how prayer makes a difference in your own world. Prayer is God’s instrument for discovery and change. The presentation helps the listener move into a vital and relational prayer life—connecting with God.
  • Depression.
This presentation has also received much acclaim. It gives the listener tools and needed insights to help the listener discover the “way out.” Explore what God wants to reveal about self, life and God through a time of depression. Discover how depression can be God’s unlikely path to peace and purpose!
  • Boundaries.
Taking back control of your life God’s way! Often the question is asked: “who is in control of my life?” Do other’s needs, responsibilities, and/or irresponsibilities have control of your days; thus creating frustration and fatigue? Janet helps to identify when, what type, and how to set appropriate boundaries in order to create healthier living and more loving relationships.
  • Fear/Anxiety
Anxiety or fear often are a result of events from the past that created beliefs that resulted in behaviors authored by fear. Janet will walk you through the origin of your fear; the beliefs you developed and bring you to release and relief; no longer controlled by fears.
